German container glass manufacturer Noelle + von Campe has received a €1.8 million grant to help the development of a new furnace.

Canadian government approves Algoma Steel’s Green Steel Commitment plan
Algoma’s Green Steel Transformation plan has been approved by the Canadian government who commit to a fund of $420 million in financial support. Algoma also announced a potential transfer to an Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) for steelmaking, to further their aims towards a greener manufacturing company.

ArcelorMittal €1 billion decarbonisation project
ArcelorMittal has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Spanish Government of a €1 billion investment in decarbonisation technologies at ArcelorMittal Asturias’ plant in Gijón, including the addition of a New DRI and EAF – need to explain what these are before abbreviating.
KME duel furnace
Kentucky Machine & Engineering took steps towards improving their production process by installing new Lucifer Furnaces’ Dual Chamber furnace-over-oven, to replace gas-fired furnace.
Low CO2 LIBERTY furnace
LIBERTY Galați, as a first for the company, exported 50,000 tonnes of blast furnace slag, which will be converted into low carbon cement at a specialist factory in France.
MMK hot rolling complex
PJSC Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) announces that MMK Metalurji, an asset of MMK in Turkey, has begun its first phase of hot tests at its electric arc furnace facility with a casting and rolling module. The annual production of hot-rolled coils amounts to about two million tonnes.
Encirc hydrogen furnaces
Encirc announces its new commitment to use hydrogen in its manufacturing furnaces to create ultra-low-carbon glass bottles. The glass bottle manufacturer and filler, states hydrogen will enable the expansion of Encirc’s Elton facility, which is said to create at least 200 jobs, whilst also protecting existing roles.
