Two training programmes designed for refractory operators in the metals industry have been launched at The Applied Materials Research Innovations & Commercialisation Company (AMRICC) Centre.

Developed with industry experts, the courses offer a Foundation and Intermediate level experience and are designed to complement each other as part of a learning journey across the metals sector.

Dr Cathryn Hickey, CEO of The AMRICC Centre, said: "Both of these courses offer an exciting opportunity for the refractories sector to benefit from training that is purpose-built for their industry.”

The first course, ‘Introduction to Refractories’, intends to provide a comprehensive overview of refractory materials and is delivered digitally, with online access available over 12 months.

The second course, ‘Refractory Materials and Applications Training’, is delivered in person at the AMRICC Academy, and Lucideon, in Stone, Staffordshire.

This two-day course features live demonstrations of the facilities within the Refractories Centre of Excellence at Lucideon.

Next dates for this course are 25th and 26th March.
